We kicked off the new year and first week back at work by attending the January Connecting Things Lou lecture. Not only was this an opportunity for us to reconnect with our fellow Louisville creatives, but this particular lecture got us more motivated to start planning and goal setting for 2016.
Speaking at Forest Giant, Sarah Smith of 502 Power Yoga, shared her personal process to achieving her goals. In her talk, Sarah took us on a journey through her career path so we could better understand how she went from corporate America to living her dream and opening her own yoga studio.
She began the morning by asking the group three questions to get their minds moving:
- What do you want in 2016?
- What will it take for you to get what you want?
- What are you willing to give up to get this?
Several audience members participated in the dialogue and Sarah urged them to think bigger, push themselves and to not be afraid of the unknown.
"It's always easy to say what you want. The hard part is deciding how to make it happen"
Sarah decided on her dream years ago, but had to do a lot before she made it a reality. She was dedicated, she had a strong desire to learn and she was willing to sacrifice certain things to open up time. In 2014 Sarah and her business partner opened Louisville’s first dedicated power yoga studio.
In closing, Sarah left us with three important steps to remember as we take our dreams to reality
Sarah's mantra and dedication can be seen in 502 Power Yoga's mission to live big, bold and powerful lives. We look forward to sharing some of our goals for 2016 in the coming weeks.
