As a sophomore at Louisville Collegiate School, Eleanor White needed to choose a service project to work with for one week. She decided upon Anchal Project after watching her mother and sister's involvement with the organization. However, one week of service wasn't enough for Eleanor and she has continued to volunteer for Anchal over the last three years after school and during her summer break.
We sat down with Eleanor to ask her a few questions about her love for Anchal and experience volunteering:
1. Describe your experience with Anchal in 3 words.
Empowering, visionary and inspiring
2. What is your favorite memory volunteering with Anchal?
My favorite memory from volunteering is when we did the photo shoot two summers ago for the Anchal roadshow. I spent a lot of time with Maggie and Colleen when we went to different locations and learned a lot about the behind the scenes of their photo-shoots
3. Given the chance to tell a friend about Anchal, what would you say?
Anchal has made me a more informed, more empowered woman. I am confident in my convictions and see the importance of feminism first hand. The women I get to work with in the Anchal office are incredibly inspiring and caring. They motivate me to be a better person and have given me the best experience of my high school career.
4. What is your favorite Anchal product and why?
My favorite products are the quilts because they are warm and cozy and lovely. I can't wait to use mine in my dorm room next year as a nice reminder of home.
5. If you could design any change in the world, what would it be?
I want all people, especially women, to have access to education. Education builds confidence which creates a better world.
