In collaboration with the Center for Women & Families, Anchal held a three part training and recruiting workshop series for dyeScape in September. A total of 19 women participated in the workshops. The women that attended were either survivors of domestic violence
or of sex trafficking. During the workshop, we conducted lessons on indigo dye, marigold
dyeing, machine stitching and hand embroidery. We also explained the opportunity for joining a six month apprenticeship.
We are excited to report that after the workshops, 2 women enrolled in the dyeScape apprenticeship program and started working part-time for 16-20 hours per week. The new artisans are learning dye formulas, dyeing fabric, sewing products like pillows, and designing products under the direction of Anchal’s new dyeScape Coordinator, Brent Drew-Wolak
The first soft launch of dyeScape’s Primary Collection was during Anchal’s Holiday Trunk Show where almost the entire product offering of tea towels, pillows, framed art, and ornaments sold out!
We are planning to launch a new selection of products early in 2018, but for now you can still purchase heart ornaments for the Primary Collection.
