Who better to write about today than Anchal's friend and partner Jaimala Gupta, Director of Vatsalya.
Jaimala is co-founder of Vatsalya, an NGO established for the rehabilitation of Street Children in Jaipur, as well as Anoothi, an organization which benefits rural women living in poverty and the Vatsalya Children's Village. She has done post graduation in food and nutrition and Master in Public health from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. She worked at the Indian Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur for 12 years (1988 to 2000) in different capacities.
She is visionary, mentor and guide to all in Vatsalya and has been closely working with orphan and abandoned children. Jaimala has completed about 35 research projects including some action researches in Reproductive and Child Health. She has also conducted about 150 trainings for paramedical personnel, Medical Professionals, Traditional Birth Attendants, MSS covering RCH, AIDS and Human Resource Management issues. Government of Rajasthan has asked Jaimala to present her model of residential child care to all government officials.
