Colleen Clines: Co-Founder & CEO
Colleen values how design can become the tool for sustainable solutions to gender inequality, social injustice and environmental degradation. She combines this passion as a social entrepreneur and impact designer through her work at Anchal. Colleen leads the overall strategic and operational planning for Anchal’s programs, partnerships, expansion and execution of its mission.
A Louisville native with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky, Colleen earned her Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In 2013, she was named one of Public Interest Design's Top Global 100 designers.
Maggie Clines: Creative Director
Responsible for maintaining Anchal’s design aesthetic in website content, marketing, product, and strategic planning.Maggie holds a B.A. in Architecture from the University of Kentucky & shares Anchal's belief that design can be the catalyst for social innovation, and education is the first step to creating positive change. As Anchal Project’s Creative Director, Maggie has successfully developed, designed, and grown Anchal’s brand into an internationally recognized organization. In addition, Maggie has successfully secured funding for Anchal through Google and Dining for Women with marketing videos and visual storytelling. Her experience in branding, design and marketing gives Anchal the ideal lead for creating awareness about the project and developing distribution channels.
Natalie Hugon: Marketing & PR Associate
Natalie graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Journalism. She loves to travel and explore other cultures. Having dual citizenship (thanks dad) afforded her the opportunity to live and work in France for 2 years after college. She was immediately drawn to Anchal’s mission, and hopes her passion for the cause and past experience will help make a difference. In her free time, Natalie likes to play with her French Bulldog Oscar or attempt to improve her yoga skills.
Kelly Diaz: Operations & Brand Coordinator
Kelly started working at Anchal as a volunteer. As a state-certified art teacher, she has always been interested in the intersection between art and design, and has always loved to share the techniques and skills that she has garnered through her own experiences working in the art, design, and film industries. While she holds a B.S. in Visual Arts from SUNY New Paltz and an Master of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Art History & Art Education from Stony Brook University - most importantly, she also holds a strong belief in the transformative power of education, self-expression, and equality. Outside of Anchal, Kelly enjoys traveling, watching a good film, reading a good book, and eating something delicious, fresh from her garden.
Jaimala Gupta: Vatsalya Co-Founder
Jaimala is co-founder of Vatsalya, an NGO established for the rehabilitation of Street Children in Jaipur, as well as Anoothi, an organization which benefits rural women living in poverty and the Vatsalya Children's Village. She has done post graduation in food and nutrition and Master in Public health from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. She worked at the Indian Institute of Health Management Research, Jaipur for 12 years (1988 to 2000) in different capacities. She is visionary, mentor and guide to all in Vatsalya and has been closely working with orphan and abandoned children.
Urmi Basu: New Light Founder
Urmi Basu is a woman of few means, facing staggering need, but her mission is clear. In her work with New Light, a non profit organization in Kolkata, India, she works to save girls from becoming victims of sexual exploitation and to improve lives of the children of sex workers. She is dedicated to correcting wrongs, one at a time.
Archana Paras: Vatsalya / Anchal Project Director
Like many of Anchal's artisans, Archana comes from a difficult background, but was determined to create a better life for herself and her son. She was educated by Vatsalya, one of Anchal's partners, and worked tirelessly to reach her current position as the project director. It is most likely this work ethic that earned her the respect of all of the artisans although she is the same age or younger than many of them. Archana also has a warming, motherly sweetness that allows her to connect to all of the artisans and successfully serve as a liaison between them and Vatsalya and Anchal. Archana not only represents the artisans, she runs the day-to-day operations, manages the products, the budget and the purchasing of materials.
