colleen clines, anchal co-founder + director
Colleen holds both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky and Rhode Island School of Design respectively. She was a recipient of the American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award in 2008. Colleen truly values how design can become the tool for sustainable urban solutions to social and environmental injustice. In addition to her work with Anchal, Colleen is a Coordinator for the Locally Integrated Food Economy (LIFE) Zone with the Louisville Metro Government where she helps increase the visibility and accessibility to fresh local foods in urban areas. She has experience in teaching at RISD, Boston Architectural College and the University of Kentucky.
devon miller, anchal co-founder + director
Devon holds a B.A. in Studio Art and Art History from Wellesley College and a M.A. in Landscape Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design. Devon delights in the interdisciplinary, cross-cultural dialogue and application of art and design in today’s world. Having trained as a Zen Buddhist monk for four years and intent on making the world a more compassionate place, she is proud to call herself a social entrepreneur. While working for Anchal, Devon has taught architecture studios at the Boston Architectural College, served as a design consultant to the city of Providence, Rhode Island and worked as a freelance landscape designer in the San Francisco bay area.
lauren miller, anchal marketing manager
Lauren holds a B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan where she specialized in strategy and marketing. Prior to business school Lauren spent six years working at Google in Online Sales and Operations and Business Marketing and worked and lived in India in 2005 and 2010. She now works at AOL where she leads product marketing efforts for next-generation consumer products. Her work has been recognized by the Google Luminary Award (2006), Google VP Award (2008), McKinsey Marketing Scholar (2009) and Weiser Family Caused-Based Entrepreneurial Leadership Award (2011).

Marj Byler has been involved with Amnesty International since 1980, as a volunteer, Board member and staff in AIUSA and from 2002-December 2010 at the International Secretariat in London where she was Senior Director for International Mobilization. Born and raised in Argentina, Marj came to the U.S. for college and graduated from Goshen College in 1969. She obtained an M.A. in Adult Teacher Education from the University of New Mexico and developed bilingual programs in the Albuquerque Public Schools.
Elizabeth Hermann is Professor of Design for the Developing World, Urban Design/Landscape Urbanism, and Islamic Architectural and Urban History at the Rhode Island School of Design. She is adjunct faculty at the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University.
Gautam Kaul is the John C. and Sally S. Morley Professor of Finance at the Michigan Business School. Gautam graduated from the Graduate School of Business, University of Chicago, in 1985 with a Ph.D. in Finance. He also has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Economics and is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Tate Reynolds is a Design Director for the Ralph Lauren Home Collection in New York City. His broad, interdisciplinary understanding of design is paired with an expansive knowledge of the textile medium in menswear and home collections. Reynolds offers invaluable insight to Anchal in product design, development, sourcing and production.
Michael Spalter is the co-founder of Preservation of Capital Management, LLC and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Rhode Island School of Design. Michael received his B.A. from Brown University and his M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.
